I have been married for sixteen years to my High School sweetheart. Together, we have three children, Kaylee, Jeffry, and Connor. Shawn is a seventh grade teacher at Hudson Middle School in Hudson, Ohio. When we are not teaching we enjoy sending time with our children, running, and going for rides on our motorcycle.
I graduated from Green High School in 1988. In June of 1992, I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from The University of Akron. I also received a Kindergarten certification. I continue to learn through workshops and seminars.
I have been teaching at St. Vincent de Paul Elementary School in Akron, Ohio for the past sixteen years. In my first five years, I taught sixth grade. Once I had my first child I decide to work part time. During that time I have taught Spanish and computer skills for St. Vincent School. I have also worked part time for Akron Public Schools as a Title 1 tutor/coordinator and gifted teacher.
I feel that teaching has been an integrate part of my life. I come from a long line of educators and coaches. My father taught for forty years as a teacher and legendary high school football coach in Akron, Ohio. He has been a wonderful role model to me of what makes an outstanding educator. I have seen how many lives he has touched in his experiences and I want to continue that legacy with my students.
